Earlier, I referred to AI as "capitalism metastasized" in some friends' group chat, and the more I roll that phrase over in mind, the more apt it seems. #FuckAI

This is such a bad idea. If you're a California resident, I'd urge you to contact your reps. via @eff@mastodon.social https://mastodon.social/@eff/116852270101096161

@heyitsluna @feditransparency@mstdn.ca Pretty sure @fediblockfightsfash is another Dav1d alt. Fits his pattern of cosplaying as antifa while spamming #fediblock

@heyitsluna @feditransparency@mstdn.ca I did. I looked at the local version on .au and it's more obvious.

#AskFedi Has anyone here pursued the new interpretation of #Canadian ancestral citizenship rules? The way it's being interpreted, as I understand it, is if you have an ancestor who was a Canadian citizen, then you technically ARE a Canadian citizen, and the paperwork acknowledging that fact is legally a formality. Well, it goes back to my great grandfather, who was born 150 years ago in New Brunswick.

I was thinking about fictional artificial intelligence, and how it's been portrayed. From the computer systems in Star Trek, to Iron Man's Jarvis, to droids from Star Wars, to Skynet, to the Geth from the Mass Effect game series, to... Well, you get my point. Benevolent or malevolent, the common thread is accuracy. When the machine has an answer, it's accurate. I seem to remember a story line in Star Trek TNG where Data was in serious crisis because he believed he had ma...

My dad just found out about Canada's citizenship options. My great grandfather immigrated to the US from New Brunswick. My dad called me up earlier, "What do you think about moving to Canada?" I don't feel like it's all that beneficial to move out of the apartment complex full of nazis just to move into the building next door. Would be nice to have functional healthcare though. #uspol #canada

I've come to the conclusion that the best way to handle someone asserting that free will doesn't exist, is to punch them directly in the nose... Obviously, you have no choice in the matter. #philosophy

@wendynather @pluralistic Yep. Search engines too: people used to search for an answer, now they ask an LLM. They didn't start doing it because they wanted a machine to think for them, they started because they stopped getting useful search results.

Well folks, it's been a nice visit, but I'd like to go back to my timeline now. We'd never elect Donald Trump to public office, you don't hear country music outside truck stops or in certain southern states and it was the BerenSTEIN bears. Oh, we also solved climate change... (I know it's sounds wild, but that's actually MOST related to the bears' name. Who'd have thought?)

I'm probably flattering my efforts to turn #GuitarMonday into a thing, but some of you may have noticed I skipped last week. I was busy, whatever, you're not the boss of me. 😆 Honestly, I was busy hauling pumice rock up a steep hill in five gallon buckets for a garden plot. Forgot all about guitars for the day. Anyway, this week I pulled out one of my acoustics. #guitar

Just curious, does anyone else take a captcha challenge from a merchant's website as an indication that they aren't interested in your business? How about you hire some people to identify busses and leave me out of it? #captcha
