Age/ID verification online feels like ID verification for going outside except less safe. I can't get murdered online, I can't get assaulted online, I can't get kidnapped online, I CAN get robbed online but it is comparatively safe and easy to avoid, why the fuck are online spaces treated like deadly hazards when compared to going outside it's a cozy safe space even at the very worst of cases. I swear that reasoning is 100% gonna be used to argue for chipping pe...

for pretty much all of my life I would have confidently considered myself to be aroace, but over the past 2 or so years I've been slowly feeling things changing away from that and I don't really know what to make of that

slice of life anime that's entirely just ordinary people doing ordinary things in ordinary ways but it's presented so extremely over the top animation that something as simple as opening a door has the visual impact of an underdog protagonist fighting off gods.

I have low key been considering making an alternative account somewhere on fedi where I post things completely unfiltered. Way too many times have I started writing a post only to end up overthinking the wording too much and deleting everything, or worrying too much about how that post might be perceived regarding this specific online persona of mine.

I'm neither religious nor an atheist but a secret third thing to which the existence or nonexistence of a all-powerful deity is irrelevant. I believe that it is more useful to learn from studying the world we live in than it is from studying the entity who made it. On our mortal scale we do have a context in which an ordinary person could be considered a god: Video games. To learn to play one well we always examine it's internal mechanics and interactions, not who made made it.

For some reason I woke up today with a random composition idea for a jazz piece. I don't usually do jazz. I'm pretty much entirely clueless about jazz. This is the second time this exact thing happened. This hasn't happened for any other genre. Why do I dream about jazz sometimes?

I've been thinking maybe I should move off mastodon because I keep having thoughts that are just a bit too big for the 500 character limit. But I don't really wanna have to go through that effort and I kinda like this instance it is very chill

Lately I've been toying around with spectral compression audio effects a lot and I'm now at a point where I'm kinda starting to hate FFT based audio processing. FFT effects always have awful resolution on low frequencies and are completely overkill at high frequencies, which is like opposite to how music works.

some time last year when I noticed this seemingly simultaneous global push for age verification and "child safety" (at least in the western world) I thought "huh wouldn't it be weird if behind the scenes all that was actually spearheaded by the people associated with epstein" Apparently I was spot on and the class of people infamous for violating children are actually putting themselves in charge of child safety this definitely won't end well...

I just had a wild very silly idea what if I used a MIDI controller like a launchpad mini in place of a gaming keyboard? Gamers want low latency and music gear is about as low latency as you ever gonna get. ...though it DOES require me that I write a custom script to turn MIDI inputs into keyboard inputs

In terms of how human biology works, people with plural systems are objectively correct. You ain't just one thing it's a trillion microscopic things that come together to form a billion tiny things that come together to form a million small things that come together to form you. All of these levels can affect you in some way, from your mood and impulses to even small aspects of your personality and mental state.

"sideloading" is a stupid made up term invented to delegitimize installing software. Heres a bunch of other things I'm doing while "sidestepping" some supposed central authority: - sideshopping (buying stuff from a store that isn't amazon) - sidedining (eating or making food that isn't from mcdonalds) - sidethinking (using my own brain instead of asking chatgpt) - sidelistening (to my own music instead of on spotify) - sidechatting (irl instead of online) #androi...
