Reflecting with a friend: Organizing and running Tabletop games has given me a lot of useful career skills. Almost everything in regards to organization, managing conflict, and leadership I learned and practiced while GMing. My coworkers are still confused when I ask them to roll initiative in a conflict though. #TTRPG

It’s maddening to read an article on pitfalls the vibe coders are hitting only to realize part way through that the author has ran the article through an LLM. I hate hitting that uncanny valley effect.

I want to make a machine that just goes around and slaps the shit out of everyone whom by knowingly dithering, turns a minor problem into a looming catastrophe that everyone else suddenly needs to manage.

For a moment there, there was neither nonexistence nor existence. It seems like you made it through though.

You won’t escape by doing just that.

Ran a oneshot of FLAIL. Genuinely one of the best light-rules OSRs I've encountered. #TTRPG #OSR

I’ll admit people comparing a hantavirus virus outbreak on a cruise ship to COVID precursors are kinda pissing me off. You know viral outbreaks happen all the time, right? I know we all went through some shit, but could you not try to stoke a panic every time the news reports one of these outbreaks? Thanks.

I've done a few patches as bare spots came up, but I think I am going to more aggressively work to convert my front yard to clover. I kinda just hate grass and having to maintain that shit. That, and when I get bees next year, it'll be far more useful to them and other pollinators. I'll see how far overseeding gets me, and start using a box to create more patches.

Watching rich people pearl clutching and screaming about moving because of wealth taxes is very funny. It’s like reverse gentrification. Oh no, the neighborhood has been changed by developments economically aggressive to you? Wonder what that feels like.

This batch of coffee bean is going to be rough to get through. It distinctly tastes like ash, like I just brewed a cup of hearth ash.

Everyone always asks for a “favorite” thing but my brain doesn’t really work like that. :neocat_0_0: I can’t say what my “favorite” food is because it’s situational. It’s all situational. Even like … color. But the concept is so deeply engrained into relation building that I have to fake answers. People get put off if I don’t answer.

Before you get too excited about the senate “banning” predictive market trading I think it’s important to look at the context and rule. The rule itself (grabbed from Morenos site since I couldn’t find it elsewhere yet)No Member of the Senate may enter into, or offer to enter into, an agreement, contract, or transaction that provides for any purchase, sale, payment, or delivery that is dependent on the occurrence, nonoccurrence, or the extent of the occurrence of a specific event.’’.First: it...

It’s probably unkind of me. But the most annoying thing correspondents dinner shooter is that the correspondents were there. Which results in 20 trillion articles of hand wringing and weird soul searching by people who suddenly care now that it happened near them or people they knew.

The other left out bit here is that he talks about “raising her”, like the thing is his child. In his view, this guy is grooming his AI daughter-girlfriend. _Hey techbros, we doing alright? Sure doesn’t sound like it_ RE: https://infosec.exchange/users/WPalant/statuses/116500876252444968

I completed the beekeeper entry level certification class. :ferncheer: …it’s just a little late to be getting all the equipment and setup for bees. Oh well. I’ll be ready next year.

One of the weird bits of the beekeeper class I took was the group of older white women there who really zero’d in on bee genetics and subspecies when it came up. Their annoyance at learning that sorry, bees mate freely and that keeping their sub-variety pure in this area was nigh impossible without artificial insemination was almost palpable.

Maybe it’s an extreme reaction, but I refuse to read an “Editor’s Introduction” that is over 50 pages long. That’s the book equivalent of a multi hour game tutorial.

I am sometimes a bit disquieted when people refer to NB people as some combination of girlboy/boygirl. There are definitely people within that spectrum that identify that way, but it seems to exclude those who feel a third way, or people like myself who identify as ... not. Not that I am asking for a purity test here. I meet people where they are, and I don't think any harm is meant. I've long accepted that my position makes me a curious outlier that sometimes breaks people's brains...

I bought a 25lb bag of lentils with the goal of dry canning them and keeping them for a rainy day. ..but then there was a literal rainy day and my trunk got wet, ruining them. At least for my purpose. An acquaintance is now in the process of boiling batches of that 25lbs of lentils for the purpose of feeding them to their 15 chickens.
