Watching rich people pearl clutching and screaming about moving because of wealth taxes is very funny. It’s like reverse gentrification. Oh no, the neighborhood has been changed by developments economically aggressive to you? Wonder what that feels like.

The fun part is that, for the most part, they don’t leave. Taxation doesn’t move the rich people (though it does tend to move their businesses). After all, they’re rich and chose to live where they do for readons that likely weren’t related to taxes. They’re not going to move because of taxes. Tax flight judt isn’t a real, observed phenomenon among the wealthy. They just stamp their feet and spend even more money on awful politicians.
