Israel’s endless violence and ethnic cleansing of West Bank. Netanyahu pretends to criticize the settlers, but his government has been assisting this violent theft. @palestine@fedibird.com https://metro.co.uk/2026/09/01/british-student-22-reveals-kidnapped-gunpoint-israeli-settlers-29508521/

Stealing money from taxpayers: So many US legislators are ancient and can barely work, but it doesn’t stop them from receiving lucrative salaries and benefits while American families struggle. The US legislators are among the highest paid in the world. The levels of legislators’ salaries and perks inversely correlate with the quality of democracy. Two other “democracies” where legislators enjoy greatest perks are Japan and Italy. #uspol https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/06/us/politics/mitch-mcco...

Why does the legacy media call those politicians who demand policies that actually benefit ordinary Americans "progressive" in a negative tone? Yes, they are demanding affordable healthcare, childcare and education and safe school environments where kids don't get shot dead. Citizens in all other wealthy democracies enjoy these things even in countries long governed by rightwing parties such as Japan and Italy. Why does "moderate democrats" have issues with progressiv...

What is happening to Palestinians will happen to us all. We are witnessing the end of the Western civilization, which like all civilizations must end. Those of us who feel immune to human suffering will be proven wrong. It didn’t have to be this way, but humans never seem to learn.

Injustice is unbearable. "Victims" become aggressors. Is this a revenge? Against the innocent? Their real old tormentors pretend to be their friends. They encourage their victims to engage in their favorite Western game: label a whole population as less human & an existential threat, and slaughter them all. Brutality.

Yet another hit piece by NYT. Remember how NYT incessantly attacked Mamdani during the democratic primaries for the NYC mayoral race? Now they are going after the democratic contender for Susan Collins' Senate seat in Maine. The owner of NYT must hate candidates who stand up for ordinary people against billionaires like himself. If you can, read the readers' comments. Much better than the article itself. #uspol https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/04/us/politics/platner-maine-se...

From Haaretz: “Israeli soldiers have been looting significant amounts of civilian property from homes and businesses in southern Lebanon, according to testimonies given to Haaretz by IDF soldiers and commanders stationed inside the country. The accounts describe the theft of motorcycles, televisions, paintings, sofas and rugs on a wide scale, which has become routine.” #lebannon #southernlebanon https://archive.is/IG322

We shouldn't forget that certain countries were and are willing to commit any crime for territorial expansion. They have committed committed the worst kinds of crime against humanity--ethnic cleansing, genocide and taking the whole world economy as a hostage (with certain consequences of death for many more in addition to people they have already slaughtered).

I can't believe that I've registered myself as a parishioner in the neighborhood Catholic Church. I was raised Catholic by Catholic parents, but had stopped going to Church a very long time ago for various reasons. The genocide in Gaza, the rise of tech billionaires with Messianic delusions, and the rhetoric of white Christian supremacy have pushed me to join a very progressive parish. Fxxk cruelty and brutality. I'm joining the biggest organization speaking up for ki...

Everything Vance touches turns sour. Trump must not really want to end the war. Otherwise, he will send a more serious negotiating team. I’m sure his family, cabinet members and friends are making millions & millions by investing in oil. Selling high just before Trump announced that they reached a deal, and buying low again when the world learns there was no deal. They can all get preemptive pardons and will never go to jail. #iran #uspol From today’s New York Times.

Apparently, American Catholics are abandoning Trump. Whenever Trump and Vance insult Pope Leo, this scene in Sorrentino’s The Young Pope comes to my mind. In this scene, Jude Law, as Young Pope, blackmails the Italian Prime Minister (played by Stefano Accorsi). It’s quite funny seeing Pope Jude Law threatening to tell Italian Catholics not to vote for Accorsi. Great dialogue. #vance #pope #trump https://youtu.be/BW2DuJmZHSM

Netanyahu should send IDF and his sons to carry out whatever military operations in the Persian Gulf he desires. No American soldier should be sent to fight for something that's not a vital interest to Americans. Why should any American soldier die to keep Bibi out of jail? Almost 90% of Israeli citizens are supporting a war against Iran. They should go ahead by themselves. Americans are already paying for their war. The least they can do is to spare any American blood. #iran

INSANITY. All the jet fuel used to fly miliarty aircrafts, the oil burning in the bombed refineries… Wars are environmental disasters. Think about all the extra carbon emissions due the war in Ukraine, the crazed destruction of Gaza—now spreading to Lebanon—and the Gulf region set ablaze for a new crusade. The crazed leaders not only destroy any sense of morality, but they also want to destroy our physical world.

Trump Administration is full of crooks. People like Hegseth and others are in the Cabinet to enrich themselves. Hey, the President and his whole family are making like bandits. This is totally OK, Hegseth would argue. The POTUS can always pardon you if you give him some of your corrupt money. Money buys more money. #uspol #iran #corruption

Unbelievable. Totally warped. Insane. Trump initiated an illegal war against Iran. Iran retaliated in the only way it could. First attacking US bases in the Gulf region and then escalatinng to hit oil facilities. Gulf states are victims of this war! Why do they have to pay anything to the US? Trump should be asking Israel to pay for the US military cost. It's a war Israel wanted as stated by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

It’s a country run by war criminals who committed crimes against humanity with full impunity. I don’t think Netanyahu or anyone in his cabinet and IDF cares about the legality of anything they do in Lebanon, Gaza, West Bank, Qatar, Iran or anywhere in the world. Plus Israel and the US consider the UN to be an antisemitic institution anyway. Remember they consider Francesca Albanese a dangerous terrorist sympathizer. https://aje.news/0e8us7

A very interesting piece in Jewish Currents—a progressive Jewish magazine. They have excellent articles. I highly recommend this magazine. In a Spanish high school, we learned about the archaic form of Spanish spoken by the Sephardic Jewish community in Turkey. They lived in the Iberian Peninsula during the Islamic rule and were expelled when the Catholic Kings took back the whole peninsula (Reconquista). Note: Christians expelled Jews while Muslims didn't. https://jewishcurrents.or...

When perpetrators are Europeans and their descendants and victims are not, anything goes. It’s ok to steal and kill. Imagine how much Belgium and its accomplices have stolen from the people of Congo. They then lecture Africans about political snd economic development!!!! AND they dread immigrants from Africa. Anyone from Congo is entitled to receiving welfare benefits from Belgium for what they did to them. #belgium #congo #europe https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20260317-former-belgian-dipl...
