  My next video masterpiece is a cooking/baking short, more than one week in the making. Second half of the video shot yesterday. Narration recorded and edited today. I'll do the editing over the next day or so. I'm curious to see how it'll go editing wise.

  Since I'm learning DaVinci Resolve, I have youtube in a browser I'm not logged into. Filled up with DaVinci video recommendations plus guitar stuff and other random things. Kind of odd looking outside my usual "algorithm." Learned something new. There are shorts that are very soft / coy ads for their OnlyFans. Not complaining. Folks gotta do what they gotta do. Just surprising given Youtube's general prudishness.

  #WritersCoffeeClub August 1: What are your goals for the month, writing-wise? My main goal is to finish writing The Novel (basically done). I usually do an edit pass after I've written a work. In this case, I already know I need to do a bunch of inserts and I've got a project-based todo list that's like ... 40 items long. Before I even bother trying to do an edit. So ... all of that.

  I was talking to my roommate about this video earlier and he said "Oh, I heard that part and thought 'what a wonderful idea' and put my headphones on."   Me and Shotcut are having a time today. I have 2 clips that need to be interspersed. Both have separate audio that needs to be merged. The simple solution would be to let me replace the audio track in the video. No go. Official solution is to export the joined video. Which is cumulatively bad. I'm trying it anyway but, for whatever reason, it's only getting like a half second of video before pausing the video stream and providing only audio. Rendering that "solution" worthles...

  Regarding the last boost, every single paper I turned in during my first attempt at a college career was over the high end of the requested range. Even ignoring the college structure of thesis + tell you what I'm going to tell you + tell you the thing I told you I would with more details and support + summarize what I just told you + closing remarks ... it takes words to do the job properly. Granted that structure is annoying and repetitive but still.

  Doing the actual cover is going to take awhile. It usually takes me about 20+ hours to make a final cover. I'm currently doing a bit of blurb work. I may tease the upcoming book with those but it's a little early for that since I haven't finished draft one yet.

  There's news out that catnip can be as effective or more effective than DEET based mosquito repellent. I spent a month in a country (just before I turned 16) where you have to take anti-malarials if you're visiting from the west. They still recommend you use repellent. In my pre-college days, I read every book my library had on UNIX back to front. While that's not the best way for me to learn (since I didn't have access to any POSIX OSes at the time I was doing it), I still use things I learned there both in my career and my daily life. Libraries rule.
