I had an unusual upbringing so there's a lot of things that I haven't experienced or experienced on a very different timeline to folks my same age. I think the first book I bought without any supervision was 1984 and the second was The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.
I was also at the beginning of my lowercase libertarian phase. I probably should have been able to get past the silliness of U.S. style libertarianism off of just the premise that people should have to pay to breath air. Today, I can see how awful that is. But I can also see how symbolic it is for the society we already live in. Boom. One step socialism.
For reasons, I haven't read any other Heinlein. Right now, I'm reading Methuselah's Children because I guess I'm a silly bean. I make no promises to read the rest of the series and there's a lot of other issues with Heinlein I'm ignoring for "brevity."
