  Ouch! Did you feel the incredibly intense humidity on Sunday? Not only was it the hottest day in four years at the Minneapolis and St. Paul Airport, but we had late night dew points of 81 degrees there, as well. That was only one degree away from the all-time record dew point at MSP but that’s not as impressive as the other statistic. Prior to Monday morning, MSP had only recorded 28 total hours with a dew point over 80 degrees. On Monday alone, we were in that range for six straight hours.

  August 8th is International Cat Day and so the amateur radio community will be hosting cat pictures via SSTV on this day. My opinion is all frequencies that are authorized should be used for SSTV. We can’t really call it a competition because clearly my cat would win so instead the goal is to celebrate all cats, big and small.

  I’ve created a new non controversial age verification system for social media. It works as follows. The person on camera has to cook broccoli by boiling it and then eat it on camera. Those who can’t or won’t are definitely children, those that can are approved. Adding cheese, salt or any other flavor enhancer will automatically fail the verification. No personal data is collected.

  Minnesota set many of its extreme heat records during the mid 1930s, with 25 days of blazing 100 degree heat, including the Twin Cities’ all-time record high of 108 degrees on July 14, 1936. What was different about that era? Humidity levels and dew points weren’t nearly as high as they are today. The ‘30s Dust Bowl was in fact a “dry heat” and the extreme heat was regional, focused on the central United States, not global as it is today. #History

For scanner enthusiasts, perfect time to scan 30-50 MHz and listen to the California Highway Patrol from across the country.

  A 12 year old child in the United States or Canada and arguably in many other countries can get the highest level of a ham radio license and theoretically build or service a 1500 watt tube amplifier. This exposes them to lethal voltages. They are however forbidden from participating in “social media”. The problem isn’t the children, it’s the tech bro billionaires and their non stop harvesting of your data.
