A 12 year old child in the United States or Canada and arguably in many other countries can get the highest level of a ham radio license and theoretically build or service a 1500 watt tube amplifier. This exposes them to lethal voltages. They are however forbidden from participating in “social media”. The problem isn’t the children, it’s the tech bro billionaires and their non stop harvesting of your data.

@HopelessDemigod@mstdn.social I fully agree. But I want to point out that even though the radio spectrum regulates the output power of RF-amplifiers, the electrical code and general health&safety regulations still apply to all electrical connections to that same RF-amplifier.

@HopelessDemigod@mstdn.social As someone who did get a novice license at age 11 (KA6FDD) and did tinker with electronics, I agree completely. We need to regulate the exploitative systems and not the individuals. The everlasting shame of so-called "libertarians" is that they got this exactly wrong.

Both in political systems of now, and in the imagination of citizens who forgot 'we, the people' and accepted 'they, the rulers' instead. The billionaires are a product of such a system, not the cause.
