  My mother-in-law cannot hear. She does not take care of her hearing aids, if she even remembers to put them in. They need to be adjusted. But she puts that off. She has ADHD and she likes to talk. But she's deaf. So the conversations are not fun. She came to a party with us. She was wildly inappropriate. She fixated on a disabled baby & an anorexic woman. I tried to steer the conversation to a better place, but she is deaf. She does not get social cues anymore unless she can lip...

  Yesterday afternoon I gave the squash at the community garden a deep water. Today it is too hot to walk into my backyard to pick chard. It's 10AM. 🥵 Ontario fires are affecting air quality. But instead of a green new deal we have trump.

  It's Thursday and the heat advisory lifts at 9 PM tonight in Minnesota. But the wildfire smoke from Canadian and Northern Minnesota wildfires has made the air thick and acrid. Luckily, I have a new filter for our old air purifier. At least inside the house our air will be clean. Our HVAC filters the air pretty well. But anytime we open the door to let the dogs out or ourselves out, the smoky air pours inside. It's a day to mask.

  The New Yorker is running an article this week online about how Latinx US voters (called Latino in the piece) are still mostly satisfied with Trump. The pastor interviewed in the article would 100% vote for Trump again today. In spite of the pain. The article also states that 2/3 of Hispanic voters are satisfied with Trump. I find this hard to believe. The New Yorker gets more and more offensive. They keep featuring the far right. But never progressives. In New York. SMH.

  Every year I grow rainbow chard in my garden. It's a delicious leafy green and is easy to grow. It's also four bucks for a small bunch at the grocery store. I grow so much that I give it away to friends. People don't know what chard is. They are freaking me out. How do they not know what chard is?? It's at every grocery store. It's not like they're not exposed to it. People I gave chard to last year, forgot what it is when I gave it to them again this year. WTF?

  Our neighbor across the street, the rockstar, was looking directly at our house and saw the lightning strike. It hit the center of the top of our house. I'm kind of amazed that we suffered as little damage as we did. Most of our electrical system is working. But I really want to see what the top of our house looks like. ⚡️

  Twice now my husband and I have had lightning strike our homes. First in California, lightning struck a tree in our backyard. That was a rental. The tree roots were deep. Our house jumped. Lightning skipped our San Jose house. But the Tesla solar system almost burned that house down. Now we're in Minnesota and lightning struck dead center the top of our house.   There are no motorcycle helmet laws in Minnesota so you see people on the highway, 80 miles an hour, no helmet. There is this big MAGA guy on his motorcycle, dangerously weaving through traffic with no turn signal, no gloves, no helmet, flying his American flag with the thin blue line on his bike.   After we put our house on the market, the neighbor with vicious dogs was yelling at her kids. Again. This time I interrupted, from a few houses away so she turned her wrath on me. I'm an adult & take no shit from abusers. She let me know she was glad we were moving. I let her know the neighbors warned me about her. She told me to mind my own business. Then I said hey, at least you're yelling at me now instead of your kids. That shut her up. I wish someone had done that...
