It's Thursday and the heat advisory lifts at 9 PM tonight in Minnesota. But the wildfire smoke from Canadian and Northern Minnesota wildfires has made the air thick and acrid. Luckily, I have a new filter for our old air purifier. At least inside the house our air will be clean. Our HVAC filters the air pretty well. But anytime we open the door to let the dogs out or ourselves out, the smoky air pours inside. It's a day to mask.

Our cat likes to hang out on the screened in patio where he can chase bugs. He's standing at the door today, so I open the door to let him out. He delicately steps one paw out the door, looks around and takes a breath. He sniffs the smoky air and then bolts back inside the house. This is why we call him Lucky. His instincts are perfect.
