  I need to stop using VSCode. Today's obvious bug: I search a directory for a string and get 7 results in 4 files. I add another file to search in and one of those files goes away. It's obviously slopcoded garbage now. It's getting worse and worse and isn't suitable for doing actual work. I just have to have the energy to switch to something else (that is permitted in this work environment) and right now I do not. fuck.

  got called a "git wizard!" at work today and few epithets can so thoroughly emphasize the mistakes I have made in my career path up to this point as a NASA contractor (pro tip sometimes you just gotta specify the whole SHA1 when you're fetching stuff that no longer has a branch but somehow hasn't gotten pruned by the remote git garbage collector)

  If the clock comes back up during unlock, unlock has silently failed. This is a smartcard unlock so removing and reinserting the card stops it from being a soft-lock; I don't know if other auth methods would require a reboot. Win11's quality has fallen off a fucking cliff. I might need to ask NASA for a non-Windows option and see what they'll offer.

  I'm sorry. I am excited for the Starship flight test planned for this afternoon/evening. I do hate Musk, I even hate SpaceX, primarily for Starlink, but also for enriching Musk and for its upcoming pivot to AI (and hopefully vaporware orbiting data centers, unless they're truly intent to attempt legally-offshoring those, which...sigh) but Falcon 9 actually is cool.   I'm followed by a reasonably-diverse group of smart people, so I'll toss this out there: I injured my finger by impact while playing an arcade game. I assume it's sprained; it hurts a little, it's swollen enough to limit its mobility (in particular it won't curl all the way) Do I need to limit its mobility? Presumably with a splint? If I don't, what am I risking? Delayed healing? Incomplete healing? It just falls off? It's an important on...
