Cannot get my head around transform.basis rotations. As always, language is a barrier. What is a "basis"? What grounding does it have? Is there any meaning? I used to be quite good at maths, but never enjoyed matrices. Does anyone have a selection of resources for how to understand? #godot #gamedev #maths

Ruby Radiance Chest loots seem to be stacking properly! Still can't stack from different Chests, but it'll have to do for now. Now to write the proper loot tables... #gamedev #rpg #godot #roguelike #gdscript #rougelight #godotengine

Phew! Due to clutch failures beyond my control, I have had to replace my car :( It's taken a bit of effort, but I now have an Audi! It's a bit old, and needs some TLC, but I hope to keep it running for a while. It's going to take a while to get used to, tho! #car #audi

Ruby Radiance Snuck in some nice, if probably unneeded, code Chest sizes it's Inventory to the number of Items. Then stacks similar items. Removes Empty Slots. Then adds slots so it fills the 3-slot-wide section neatly. #gamedev #rpg #godot #roguelike #gdscript #rougelight

Ruby Radiance No Progress. Have been taking Audrey the Audi for a spin. Suspension is a bit solid, and noisy, but otherwise all is good. #audi #car

Godot: I forgot the last answers, so I have to ask again: What are "Shaders"? What do they do, and why? I don't need to know how "easy" they are, or how fancy the output is, just *what*they*are/do* Why would I use them? #godot #gamedev #shaders #gdscript #godotengine

Instead of the Berlin Interpretation, might make my Roguelike follow the Copenhagen Interpretation: Everything exists as proc-gen probabilities, until the Player experiences them, at which point the Function collapses, everything blue-screens, I use non-deterministic words, and things on my desk approach relativistic velocities. #gamedev #godot #roguelike #gdscript #rpg #godotengine #rougelight

Ruby Radiance Godot "The text-based scene at path "res://Assets/MeshTest/Inn/inn.tscn" is large on disk (530.3 KiB), likely because it has embedded binary data" How to address this? i imported the glb from a downloaded Blender file I looked at the .tscn and it has some text in it. It seems to have references to the Textures (even though I have tried to remove them from the mesh) Apparently I should "save the resources as their own file" HOW?...

Ruby Radiance I still can't reliably import Textures on my .glb files, but managed to mangle something together. It seems that the "File is large on disk" was *actually* being caused by the Trimesh Collider! Replace with a "Multiple Simplified" and the warning goes away. :( #gamedev #godot #rpg #roguelike #gdscript #rougelight #godotengine

I'm seeing a lot of "Dungeon Crawler" type games that don't seem to have corridors, just doors or "jumps"/"portals" from one room to the next. I presume this is to cut out "dead time" and get straight to the "good bit". Does it not remove some of the "maze" elements from games, and any anticipation? Leaving just straight-paths from Start to End? #gamedev

Our Table has just started playing B4 - The Lost City (Goodman's 5e version). Our GM has *finally* got around to putting his long-awaited Mystara campaign together, and we're using this is a starting point. I'm playing an Elf Wizard out of Glantri. So far, we've entered the Pyramid, and encountered a swarm of Giant Fire Beetles! Will our Heroes emerge victorious, or be defeated by the 1st Foes? Stay tuned... #rpg #Dnd #B4 #ttrpg

Hawk Hill Manor Trying to tidy up models, using Kenney's assets. Need to figure how to work with them (specifically, the colour maps). Lots of Logic needs work, too. Might call it a Roguelike. I don't know what the qualifiers are these days. #gamedev #godot #godotengine #gdscript #roguelike #rougelight

Hawk Hill Manor Getting navMesh synchronisation error :( "WARNING: modules/navigation_3d/3d/nav_region_builder_3d.cpp:221 - Navigation region synchronization had 9 edge error(s). WARNING: More than 2 edges tried to occupy the same map rasterization space" I sort of understand what this means, but I have ZERO idea where the actual problem is. I have tried optimising my Terrain mesh, and my Buildings are using Box Colliders. Any idea how to trace this? #godot #gamedev #godo...

Did you know that it is International Back-Up Day? But don't worry! If you haven't made back-ups of your data, it is still protected by "Meh, what's the worse that could happen?", "It'll be fine" and most importantly: "I'll do it tomorrow!" (obligatory "this is sarcasm - PLEASE MAKE YOUR BACK-UPS" disclaimer) Friends don't let friends lose data #data #backup #backups
