@guyjantic@infosec.exchange good, they recruit heavily within techie circles, (basically anyone who can be flattered about their intelligence) so it's important to be on guard.

Im in my 50s, an academic, deeply suspicious of culty bullshit, skeptical of social/cultural tech-based trends, and a former multi-decade member of a slightly culty conservative religion. I can't imagine I'd be be able to keep a straight face long if some Effective Altruist or other flavor of Silicon Valley guru culture gave me their pitch.
