Im in my 50s, an academic, deeply suspicious of culty bullshit, skeptical of social/cultural tech-based trends, and a former multi-decade member of a slightly culty conservative religion. I can't imagine I'd be be able to keep a straight face long if some Effective Altruist or other flavor of Silicon Valley guru culture gave me their pitch.
