I generally am quite a clumsy person, but I just realized my clumsiness gets way worse when I am overwhelmed. Got to spend four days on the Easter holidays with my nephew - and till the end of the week it’s like clumsiness x10. Everything falls from my hands, I almost drowned my phone two times, accidentally broke several plates, a glads and a ceramic pot lid, flipped several dishes and bumped many things. I’m like a walking disaster by now, so I just am sitting on my sofa trying to not touch anything fragile or expensive till I get enough of my alone time. Did you also noticed being much more clumsy when you are overwhelmed and not having enough alone time? @autistics@fedigroups.social #autistic #AuDHD #neurodivergent

@olena@mementomori.social @autistics@fedigroups.social my neurodivergence manifests in anger if I don't get enough alone time. That comes from the stress. When my body gets hyped up, I get... socially clumsy. Short. Curt. Intolerant. Defiant. It has it's place, but it can go overboard quickly. Different effect, maybe, pretty much the same type of stressor. A gradient, as you describe.

@olena@mementomori.social @autistics@fedigroups.social Absolutely. Under normal circumstances, I don't break anything. I'm an expert in walking between fragile stuff. I lay things out in patterns and that... requires a lot of space. When I then actually break something, it's a warning that I am almost out of energy (and patience).

@olena@mementomori.social @autistics@fedigroups.social I think that there is a large element of concentration required not to be too clumsy. Concentration that requires energy, that if lacking, goes out of the window.

@olena@mementomori.social @autistics@fedigroups.social I do get clumsier than usual during those times. I also tend to get easily confused, and just sort of dazed generally. Having regular down time is essential to my ability to function.
