I'm reminded of a certain high-control religious sect that once published an article titled: "Avoid independent thinking." In case you didn't know it, MAGA is a cult. https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/maga-cultist-shane-vaughn-says-former-trump-supporters-are-being-selfish-thinking

Last night I dreamt that I somehow had received two artificial, removable fingers on my right hand. I recall thinking how much fun I could have tricking unsuspecting people into pulling them off my hand. "It's a pleasure to meet y โ€” oh God!" they might say as they pulled their hand away from my grip. #Dreams

Ethereal coastal light brushing mountains and glaciers. This was about 10:00 PM local time. It's impossible to do the view justice in a single image, but this comes as close as any I took. #Alaska #GoldenHour #Glacier

Had a brief conversation this morning with an educator (4th grade teacher) who assured me that AI is great and will grow out of its rough edges. She was largely uninterested in discussing the harmful environmental impact of these massive data centers making her job easier. That's not an incidental detail we can afford to gloss over. #AISlop

I'm attending a workshop event at a Tennessee state park starting tomorrow through Friday. I was asked to give a brief introduction for the benefit of my IT colleagues. Ended up creating what I hope is an entertaining, 14-slide LibreOffice Impress slideshow that I've spent entirely too much time polishing and editing. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Whenever I see imagery of temperate forests from around the world, they feel instantly familiar. I'm not sure why, but that's not what I'd expect from places separated by thousands of miles.

I feel like I'd be a more prolific photographer if I visited more places, carried a camera, and pointed it at more things.

I keep getting periodic emails from Western Governors University suggesting I look into their cybersecurity program. It's almost like they don't remember that I got my BS in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from them in 2023. #Cybersecurity https://www.theregister.com/2026/04/27/from_a_massive_skills_gap/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=bluesky

An old maple tree stands along the abandoned Sanborn Road in Meriden. Many of the largest maples have fallen here, although a handful remain (October 2022). When I was growing up, the barbed wire fences were still doing the job of (mostly*) containing grazing cows in open pasture. The fields are now largely overgrown. *We had occasional AWOL bovine visitors coming up the driveway when they broke free. #NewHampshire #ThrowbackThursday #FujifilmX100V

I'm sure others find it motivating, but engaging in a group exercise while upbeat music plays in the background is one sure way to shut me down. Thankfully I'm here for IT support while these librarians participate in a workshop about "Generational Fluency." The topic is interesting to me, but group activities have always been my nemesis. Apparently we left-handed people only buy expensive folios, because we're all very fancy. I just want a folio that has the notepad on the left. I don't need one made from premium northern white rhino leather. ๐Ÿ™„

How many people actually fall for these housing loan phone scams? There must be a sufficiently large cohort to make it worth their while. Pretty sure I'd remember if I'd applied for a substantive housing loan, but that's just me.

We're going to install some track lighting soon to brighten up this side of our family room. I'm going to remove the "glass" from these cheap frames. I like the gloss, but they provide no meaningful advantage in presentation. Glare is already an issue, and the addition of lights on them will just exacerbate the problem. Call me the budget home decor guy. (And, yes, I realize the rightmost frame should be moved further away from the rest.) #FightTheRealEnemyGlar...

I finally found a new home for the darkroom equipment I posted on Freecycle several weeks ago. Next up, waiting to be claimed: my grandmother's old end tables. They hold sentimental value, but they're just not practical for our living situation. I can't put a price on them, so I'd prefer giving them away.
