@cutesobri I've heard good things about Powered by the Apocalypse: https://theresattrpgforthat.tumblr.com/post/743574214628474880/system-overview-powered-by-the-apocalypse-pbta It uses a 2d6 roll to resolve conflicts. It's used in many games, but Dungeon World is among the best known, being a D&D-like system.

@cutesobri What's the genre, and are you playing with kids or adults?

@cutesobri The classic T&T is simple and d6 based. The quickstart can be had for free. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/54407/tunnels-trolls-free-rulebook

@cutesobri I would suggest blades in the dark, but it definitely is built around not one-shots with a few exceptions. It's also playbook based but uses dice pools instead of a single result. What's the vibe you're looking for for your one shot, I might have other suggestions that are further afield. (I see a response suggesting pbta and also a good choice)

@cutesobri I really like the Fate system and found it was pretty easy to introduce to folks who haven't done any TTRPG before.
