“We need an Ozempic for cars. They are growing at a phenomenal rate, wreaking havoc on roads, squeezing out smaller vehicles and endangering pedestrians. Like ever-hungry teenagers, cars in Europe are growing on average a centimetre wider every year.” Don’t repeat North America’s mistake, Europe. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jul/12/britain-car-suv-big-large-vehicle-road-pedestrians

@BrentToderian@mastodon.online One small hope is this: * Like the calculation for rockets, where each kg of rocket/payload/fuel increases the fuel required recursively. * In an EV, the range can be extended or cost reduced best by trimming other weight. Perhaps some of that might be by trimming size.

@BrentToderian@mastodon.online #Alt4you Photo shows kids running across a road on a zebra crossing, in the background near an approaching SUV. There is a lot of danger in that situation.

@BrentToderian@mastodon.online We need a power limit for cars, e.g. 100kW. Every vehicle with more power should be rated as truck with a technical implemented speed limit of 85km/h.

@BrentToderian@mastodon.online mmmmm I can't endorse comparing fat people to dangerously large vehicles, or weight loss drugs to road safety. This is a distressing comparison.
