Being unable to experience empathy should be considered a disability if you're working with other people. Especially if you're in a position of power. Instead, we've somehow created systems and a world that rewards them hugely for this lack, even as they ruin the best of our humanity.

@ElleGray@mstdn.social People who mistakenly use the word 'woke' often mean 'educated,' unintentionally exposing their own ignorance. I believe all people have empathy to varying degrees, and the best way to draw it out in others is to be empathetic oneself.

@ElleGray@mstdn.social They’re Nazis, of course they hate empathy.

@ElleGray@mstdn.social Empathy isn't enough. We also need a sense of justice.

@ElleGray@mstdn.social Remember in Blade Runner the one thing Deckard was testing the Androids for was Empathy. If Elon ever had his teeth kicked out as a kid he’d have oceans of Empathy on tap. So would Trump. They are both spoiled brats who are only “Biologically” human and only Men cause they have malformed micro dicks. Neither of then are even with in golf cart distance of being RealMen(tm)

@ElleGray@mstdn.social Right-wingers do experience empathy -- yes, even the ones claiming empathy is a "woke virus". They're just annoyed when you feel empathy for people they don't like. Folks who actually don't feel empathy shouldn't be used as punching bags. NPD, some folks with autism, sociopaths, etc., don't deserve to be treated like they're bad people. They are far more likely to be victims of the far-right than to be right-wingers.

@ElleGray@mstdn.social I really wish I could argue with you over this, but you speak the truth. 💯

@ElleGray@mstdn.social as a bit of an introvert and a recluse I may think about this differently. There are very few people I would lie awake at night worrying about. The people who do lie awake at night worrying about world hunger are probably literal saints, but I don't do that. I do know there are things that should be different, awful things that happen that shouldn't. But this feels more of an intellectual thing. Is there such a thing as intellectual empathy? It makes me donate money, write letters etc.
