So, I post this meme a lot. It's every girl's dream, first of all. Secondly, my husband works at NASA Earth. Thirdly, my husband is pretty sure he knows the "white male post doc" and supports Dr McCarty in her smackdown.

@violenteastcoastcity@mastodon.social I witnessed a similar scene 20+ years ago. A computer science engineers dinner. A woman (the only one) was among the invitees: she was a console games debugger. They joked about "playing games" wasn't computer science. She gave one of the best explanations of what kernel debugging meant. For the rest of the dinner, most people talked about soccer or motors.
