"Log empty blister packs in the app and wait for up to 24 hours until they are validated" statements dreamed up by the utterly deranged

@eleanorrees@mas.to if you have a Superdrug with a pharmacy near you, they supposedly have boxes where you can just drop them off (but there's no easy way to check which stores these are).

@eleanorrees@mas.to Honestly I think Boots is overall a bit useless and has lots of non-best practices, and is owned by Private Equity. Would not be surprised if they don't really exist in 5 years time.

@eleanorrees@mas.to we saved up a big bunch of them over the year and took them in to Stratford Westfield and a staff member explained to us how to use the stupid idiotic system they have, and even she found it tedious, and it turned out that we can’t do it there and then so we took them all back home and realised it wasn’t going to amount to much return at all, so a few weeks later I shoved them all in the bin, much to our satisfaction – we’re never going to want to recycle them ever again. It’s not the principle of the thing, it’s the money! And the complicatedness, it should be easy.

@eleanorrees@mas.to so, someone without a smartphone can't recycle. Someone with an old smartphone can't recycle. Someone who doesn't want to download an app (because of privacy or security concerns) or hasn't got the spare capacity on their phone, or it's a work phone, can't recycle. And those who are left have to jump through numerous hoops just to do it. #enshittification at its finest.

@eleanorrees@mas.to @keefeglise@mastodonapp.uk Technically you don’t need to register - I’ve recycled toothpaste tubes at Boots without logging anything. I think the logging is tied to their reward-points offer.

@eleanorrees@mas.to Gosh this is wild!! Not every chemist has it, but where I live some chemists just.. have an open bin that you put the blister packs in. That's it!
