@Harlander@writing.exchange yep, lots to talk about. @bruces@mastodon.social posted this the other day about the crazy and I think it is time to tag #aidelusions errata: #massdelusions was the hashtag https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2025/08/ai-mass-delusion-event/683909/

@Harlander@writing.exchange "Oh, honey, sit down. I'm going to fix you a drink and tell you what AI actually does." - Flips the window sign to closed.

@Harlander@writing.exchange Life is better in theaters. In Mandibules, a movie by #QuentinDupieux, two guys learn a giant fly how to pick orders from a store.

@Harlander@writing.exchange it should be promoted as common knowledge among the populace that any time you hear someone say “I asked ChatGPT”…, if you substitute it with “I asked my dog”… the sentence still works

@Harlander@writing.exchange The thing that gets me is that, if LLMs actually were intelligent enough to do that - that is, send a message to the store (including payment info!!) in the manner that would receive a reply - they’d be more than intelligent enough to lie about doing it.

@Harlander@writing.exchange Somewhere there's a guy in a hardware store wondering why he got an oddly worded text message ordering a drink.
