@amirbkhan@mastodon.social Humans are social animals so politics happens all the time in all situations

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social I have to tell people to stop being political to get them to leave me alone. I am the victim of many micro aggressions where some MAGAt feels he needs to validate his emotional political ideology on me. So I put up a sign: All personnel are prohibited from talking about politics unless they change their given name to STUPID.

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social A thing that I have started noticing is when I mention that something is bad in general, I get a barrage of debunked right-wing talking points. An example of this is I complain about health care billing issue, and being told that at least we aren't in Canada, where "women are dying waiting for treatment of breast cancer." Then there are the people who insist on sending me articles from Epoch Times and Zero Hedge.

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social My experience is that no one is 'talking politics' until someone says something that's against the grain of the office 'consensus'

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social When people say "stop being political", it's ordering and ordering is verbal abuse [1][2]. [1] "Any form of ordering [...] is a form of verbal abuse. @amirbkhan@mastodon.social if there’s one thing that everyone can agree they hate, it’s feeling guilty. If you take away someone’s guilt they’ll let you take anything else you want with it.

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social That isn’t completely true. When I say something about leaving politics out, what I mean is I only want to hear about the good stuff in life, your hobbies, interests, things you do to relax. Nothing about politics is relaxing or even remotely interesting. They are all terrible.

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social would second the 2nd part of the statement. I think many people that say shit like that just do not see issues others have and think they're just complaining for no reason. What were the replies all of you got when talking about some actual issues instead of just generically talking about "the issues"? I'm sure there are assholes but I just want to hope that there are at least a bunch of people blissfully ignorant too.

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social Another possibility is that “this system isn't good for me either, but I believe that whatever I do won't change it. It's a complete waste of time. So it's better not to say anything.”
