In the ongoing bizarreness that is #aws I closed my account, because why not. They then charge me for WAF, which I don't remember setting up. Or even know what that is. I try to log into my account and get a blank warning box, I assume because I tried to close it. So in the email I click the billing link and hey! I can get it, not so closed then? I'm being charged daily for WAF, so I click on WAF to see what it is - get a "you closed your account" message. Thanks Amazon. I'm now in a very strange limbo where my closed account is being charged daily for a service I have no idea about, I can't cancel, and can't access. Time to face the ah, support, situation.

@alansuspect@aus.social I think W and A stands for What-the and Actual, not sure about the F.

@alansuspect@aus.social Wow, what a story, an AWS (Amazon Web Services) story… Catch22 has nothing on them! Good luck activating the “ah, support, situation”! 🤞 If you don’t report back in a reasonable time, we’ll send your clothes… 😁 (joke) #Amazon #AWS #Catch22 #humour #support #weird

@alansuspect@aus.social Once you've closed your account, the billing pages remain accessible so that you can manage final payments etc. The account finally closes 90 days after you pull the plug; up to that point you can resurrect it. AWS bills monthly. So if you close your account on (say) 4 March, you will still get a bill for March. But if you are getting billed for usage occurring after the closure date, that is definitely a problem.
