Unions are like condoms -- if someone tries to tell you you don't need one, you *definitely* need one.

@bvibber@wikis.world Some people will try to poke holes into it to make it weaker!

@bvibber@wikis.world I see your point, and love this way of explaining it. But, if someone tells me I don't need a condom, then they are right because there is absolutely no way I'm touching that even with a protective layer of rubber! 🤣

@bvibber@wikis.world Unless that union is in the UK and "works in partnership" with the employer. You're better off going it alone rather than throwing your money away on those boot lickers. Those are the kind of condoms you've you've found in an old wallet at the back of a drawer from 20 years ago.

@bvibber@wikis.world My dad was a firefighter who viewed unions as a necessary evil -- you have to pay dues and have a new level of social headaches, but they protect you from so much worse. My attitude is that every manager, up and down the chain, has the job of preventing their employees from NEEDING a union. Treat everyone fairly, pay them well, don't favor in-groups over out-groups, and listen to their concerns. If you fail to do that, then unionization is the necessary result because management has failed at their jobs.
