@gdinwiddie@mastodon.social Just to appease the Latin scholars in the studio audiences, yes we all know it’s a calque (word-for-word translation) of the English idiom "and shit" into Latin and this is not actually a real Latin expression or abbreviation. Shush now, let people enjoy things.

@gdinwiddie I think only “etc.” is interchangeable with “etm.” The others have a slightly different meaning for me. But I’m not a native speaker, I might be wrong about this.

@gdinwiddie Interestingly, ETM is the name of my wifi network 😅, but it means "Enter The Matrix" here (and all the machines connected to it are named after Matrix characters).

@gdinwiddie I've always loved the "&c" notation used in bygone days, despite modern writing tools, in their narrow geek minds, believing this to be a typo. I will now be adding "&m" to my repertoire 🤣
