I am a little shocked at the lack of solidarity I see between artists working in different mediums wrt genAI. Musicians who would never use it to make music use it to make cover art Graphic artists reach for it to make music over their videos Writers use it to illustrate their articles And, considering software development an art, many use it to create web sites or apps to host their art. None of this is necessary. All of this is harmful to the other artists. Collaborate ffs. Stop it.

@limebar@mastodon.social I'm a writer. I won't use AI for anything. There is no place in creative work of any kind for AI. My cover art is made by a human artist. My editor is a human. My audiobooks are narrated & produced by humans. I have to believe that matters.

👆 for those saying they don't know how or can't afford to collaborate... Please turn to the Commons Learn about public domain and creative commons licensing Start with a video image or sound in the Commons and manipulate it to make it your own. Or don't bother manipulating if the license doesn't allow or you don't have the skill. Either way it'll be better and appreciated more
