I got my first taste of what must be an LLM at work. I tried to buy my first smartphone for an upgrade on my Verizon account. The payment part went fine, but at the end of the viewing of agreements and such there was a notice that "Oops. Something went wrong. Call phone number 800-xxx." I called and met my opponent who won hands down. It was all "Sorry, I don't understand..." I think it understood "Goodbye" when I said that, but I didn't wait to hear a response. Gads!! I have tried sending an email to the address I found for them. No auto reply yet, so I guess there will be no reply. I may try chat again when I regain my equilibrium. That was what I tried first before attempting to buy the phone and after being handed off to the 4th person who told me that they were sorry they couldn't help because they were the wrong department, I closed the chat. I should really post this on my blog. :-) I think I'll start with this and then fill in the happy ending.

@ajlewis2 Man what a dreadful experience! Sounds like they're trying their absolute best to lose you as a customer...

@ajlewis2 dumb q - you bought a phone from a mobile provider? Is it because they r often tied to them? I usually buy mine straight from the smartphone makers shop, like recently I bought mine from a Xiaomi shop. And sorry for your bad experience!! And yes I should write about it. I love reading people's use cases. I once used an LLM to reduce my insurance premiums by a few hundred. I also often use it to understand contracts.
