@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org @LabSpokane@mas.to I got my start as a technical writer by ghostwriting four chapters of a 1991 John C Dvorak & Bernard J David book, "Dvorak's Inside Track to the Mac." Neither John nor Bernard wrote a word of that book, except perhaps the acknowledgments (where I'm mentioned). The first book with my name on the cover came next year; I co-authored it with Bernard and wrote my half while he hired ghostwriters for his. I got my first solo book later the same year and went on to write 80 more.

@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org @LabSpokane@mas.to Of course, I still have the book in my library. It's on the top shelf of all the books I've written. (I sometimes joke that I stopped writing books because I ran out of space in that bookshelf.) Mimi was John's wife and she did the editing, drawing together the content from all the ghostwriters to make something complete. I don't remember who John Murphy was. That was 36 years ago.
