I’m surely not the first to come to this realisation, but the LLM industrial complex is to tech-life what MAGA is to politics: erode any and all trust in established institutions, people and practices for the benefit of the very few and worst people on the planet in the (poor) guise of freedom.

@janl@narrativ.es exactly! It's doing wrong for quick profit, spreading harms out to the public, by removing attribution and accountability. It's a power play by a few people who believe their unbalanced, elitist grab of value should be the new definition of the "center". That's Mussolini, Nixon or Ronald Reagan in a nutshell.

@janl@narrativ.es This right here is something that seems so blatantly self-apparent to me, and its one of my biggest blockers to having anything to do with the set of technologies. It's honestly very disheartening and isolating to hear other software devs not seeing this for themselves (or dismissive of the concerns when raised).

@janl@narrativ.es I wonder if those involved have realised that continuing down this strategy may lead to requiring life long personal security for themselves, their families and friends the personal toll of this strategy of greed may well be very costly
