"According to Taiwanese outfit CTWANT [machine translated], 67-year-old Wu initially didn’t trust the AI app but eventually changed his mind after it proved to be useful. Unfortunately, this mistake turned out to be disastrous, as it directly caused the death of 150 mu, or 24.7 acres, of sesame seedlings." https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/artificial-intelligence/chinese-farmer-kills-25-acres-of-crops-after-following-ai-generated-weed-and-pest-control-advice-farmer-trusted-pe...

disinformation is so dangerous now, just look at the horde becoming a threat to real UK assets, in the vigorous protection of fiction. this is exactly how "they are coming to take our women and children" fictions are run. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/aug/10/harry-potter-fans-force-relocation-of-430m-undersea-cable-to-avoid-dobbys-grave

RE: https://mas.to/@carnage4life/117068643072280592 Once you see the OpenAI criminal act presentation like a marketing stunt to rival Hegseth's long list of war crimes, all these copycat criminals make sense.

"Congress decides how public funds are spent, a principle written into statute after Richard Nixon tried withholding appropriations he disliked." So Trump uses a loophole: "nothing was terminated, and the grants were merely 'not awarded continued funding'". https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/aug/07/trump-healthcare-hospital-quality-patient-safety

RE: https://dmv.community/@jcrabapple/117059891791621603 I'm happy to hear people paying attention, yet I have to point out this is all over a decade old already. Used to give talks and interviews about BlueTOAD and multi-sensor fingerprint. Broadcast harvest has been municipal infrastructure since roughly 2010. By September 2016 there were reports of police abusing the databases.

I watched the OpenAI talk. It's gross. I guess I'll write it up. They are pouring gasoline onto the wooden floors of a building. Lighting a match and wondering if the neighbors have smoke detectors. They ran the evals with reduced cyber refusals relative to production. They open the talk explaining that models really like to cheat. The sandbox let the agent reach a writable, internet-connected, shared service with unauthenticated endpoints. Every flammable condition was a chosen con...

@Viss@mastodon.social @lorenzofb@infosec.exchange it's our whole tech influencer market of "here's how to be safe" that is based on no actual measurement standard, not even the basics. he lights up a network broken by me just looking casually at the diagram, let alone an agent with nothing else to do. it's the basics, I swear. SB1386 and PCI DSS were our dumb confidentiality breach turning point. we haven't had anything regulatory enough yet for these dumb AI integrit...

@Viss@mastodon.social @lorenzofb@infosec.exchange exactly. even worse is we have the precedent in actual engineering history for this exact problem and the prevention. it's so simple. here's my deck, which I taught many, many CS graduate students and even corporations with. my experience with the OpenAI and Anthropic crew is they think their wheel isn't like any other wheel because they believe in hallucinations more than history. https://www.flyingpenguin.com/2015-fachhochschule-s...
