Last week at Local First Conf, it seems like everyone was talking about ATProto. I really want to build on it, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. I wrote up what and how and why not:

(ActivityPub was never an option, because it's even less local-first, and the HOA mentality makes it impossible to build applications on.)

@lkanies@hachyderm.io Haven’t gotten that far in the post yet, so I won’t comment on your exclusion of AP yet, just to note that I agree with what you want to build, and I have a PDX local friend who is a film buff and has been working on a Letterboxd replacement on and off over the years. I really hope something comes to fruition. I just want to log how I feel about things I saw / read / heard / ate man, without all the capitalism.
