@newbyte@mastodon.nu I would say they can have uses. It allows you to repurpose old devices. E.g. running little services on the network (even if just for testing). However their usefulness is certainly very limited. I don't think they are very fit to use the device as an actual phone.

@newbyte@mastodon.nu yes 💯% very useful in using downstream ports to start mainlining devices. this is how i started u can whittle down the files for downstream linux kernels to the bare minimum quite easily. that way ai can quickly grep and find relevant things for mainlining purposes. ik pmOS doesnt like ai, but this workflow has genuinely been useful for me to get actual functionality working without spending a lot of time 1 problem: people get comfortable with ports and rarely improve it
