  I want to extend a big thank you to Oormila Raveendran Andaythu (unfortunately no fedi account) for making an introductory tutorial on how to make your first #MobileLinux app as her master's thesis and presenting it at the first PCM this May. Developer documentation like this is something we're sorely missing and could use much more of.   W.r.t. #accessibility of #postmarketOS, I'm thinking maybe we should have some sort of flashing lights warning for the #PinePhone given that—at least on my device—the panel sometimes starts flashing rapidly on startup? Of course this is a bug that should be fixed but perhaps it would be good to figure out how we can present information like this since presumably it won't be the last time we have bugs that affect accessibility.

  If you're interested in a semi-beginner friendly contribution opportunity in #postmarketOS, we currently have an issue with using Podman/Distrobox in the Console terminal emulator. @craftyguy already investigated it and found a probable root cause, so either just verifying his hypothesis or sending an actual fix upstream would be helpful!   Tagged #postmarketOS #pmbootstrap 3.10.0 last night. Highlights include the install command prompting for user password and "pmOS is already installed on this medium" much earlier so you don't have to babysit it, run0 support if sudo and doas aren't installed, and UEFI boot by default for QEMU. Other than that, lots of smaller bug fixes and enhancements as well as technical debt being cleaned up. Big thanks to all the new contributors who showed up to help out...

  Is there any easy way to just put a web link in a directory in #GNOME with #Nautilus for organisational purposes? Like if I have a directory with files relating some particular task and I also have a link that's very relevant to this task, is there any way I can have a file that opens a given link in a browser when tapped on? Generally I think this would be handled by desktop files, but it doesn't look like Nautilus cares about them. And they're not very convenient to mak...

  I just opened a merge request to #postmarketOS #pmbootstrap making some changes to the UX of the install subcommand, in particular prompting you about install disk issues much earlier and also informing about that without the --password argument you'll be prompted to manually enter it later. Testing and feedback would be much appreciated, especially if you are using less common arguments to the install subcommand as the early mounting potentially could cause issues. https://gitlab.post...

  #Megapixels 2.1.0 was just merged into #postmarketOS Edge, including a fix to make it work out-of-the-box again on the original #PinePhone! Performance is not as good as it used as it relies on software rendering but it can take photos at least, and it's markedly more usable than the main alternative Snapshot—which unfortunately runs at what seems to be less than 1 FPS on it.
