Until the day I die in the #climate wars, I will not understand how we all saw a different way of life during the lockdown, the skies cleared up (not saying it was all good—a lot of people died), but then we collectively just decided to go back to “normal”….office hell, away from family, jetsetting, and now apparently #AI datacenters… ugh. I think about this every day.

@derekthiess@mas.to "We" did no such thing. Those invested in the system panicked as they saw it also. Globalized supply chains were breaking down, the fragility of our system was exposed - the outright lie of it all - and people were imagining things that were better. So the iron hand came down - they forced people back to work even as the pandemic still raged. It could easily be framed as a war, truly. Many lives were lost for the preservation of the system, and since then it's been a constant attack on socialist ideology and a rise of fascist authoritarianism.
