Just heard this morning that a second major #hospital in #Ottawa is significantly cutting #nursing staff. This is in a city where we already regularly see 10 plus hour waits in ER (not to mention a ridiculous shortage of family doctors). All due to budget cuts by the Conservative provincial government, which, like conservative governments everywhere, is devoted to privatizing #healthcare. Like many Canadians, I'm perfectly happy to pay a bit more in taxes to ensure that everyone can get the health care they need, but I'm am very much *not* happy when I see the care those taxes are meant to pay for being gutted.

@lmgenealogy@mstdn.ca If the goal is two-tiered, they'll need nurses desperate for work in order to compete with the public system. Those 'efficiencies' they talk about in the private sector happen only if you break unions and devalue labour.

@lmgenealogy@mstdn.ca Ford wants a pipeline not nurses. It's a shame oil corporations can't pay for their own pipeline. This is how corporate welfare works.

@lmgenealogy@mstdn.ca Their goal is to make it so bad that people beg for privatisation
