  I've started using mind maps for tracking the progress of my various client cases. I've been using a spread sheet to keep track of where I am with them, but it doesn't quite work as an overview. I tend to think in hierarchical formats anyway, so I think this might be helpful. #genealogy #geneadons #productivity #organisation

  I was talking with a doctor last week about my early fascination with #genetics (due to a documentary I saw decades ago about the search for the genetic basis of Huntington's). I said that if I had been scientifically minded, I would probably have pursued a career in genetics. The doctor said it could be argued that, by becoming a #genealogist, in a sense I did exactly that. Hadn't thought of it that way.   Just heard this morning that a second major #hospital in #Ottawa is significantly cutting #nursing staff. This is in a city where we already regularly see 10 plus hour waits in ER (not to mention a ridiculous shortage of family doctors).   One of the games my husband plays is a sort of fantasy #Americanfootball game, but it comes from a UK company, and I really doubt they even know what American football is. They call the field 'the pitch', which is at least understandable, but they also talk about deciding the game in #penalty shoot-outs. And I absolutely cannot fathom how penalty shoot-outs would even work in American football.

  I saw no valid reason for that goal to be disallowed. Nobody touched the goalie, he just dived over. Like the announcer said, he was play-acting for the ref, and he got away with it. Incredibly annoying. #WorldCup #fedifc

  Years ago we had a raccoon take up residence under our cement front step. We called animal removal, and we watched him trap the animal to remove it (for release elsewhere - we didn't need it dead). Watching that process has damaged my ability to enjoy wildlife. I have no need for personal contact with a fox or deer or wild cat or whatever - they're wild animals - but I love to see them from afar (or on television).
