@leigh@lgbtqia.space mu personal preference is a new tab, because I'm generally doing some sort of research and I want to keep track of where the information was (and I'm good at closing tabs). But more strongly as a former customer service person - new tab always as the default. So many less tech savvy people get extremely lost, and worry they are being scammed, and are unable to get help specifically because the links open in the same page and they don't realise they're not still a website A. I get why people want to make their own choice, but it's a real dark pattern for tricking people into engaging with companies and organisations they wouldn't have chosen.
