I have no idea if people generally share my opinion about this or not… so I’ll ask! The results will be skewed by the fact that people using Fedi are typically more tech-savvy than average, but that’s ok for my non-scientific purposes. Please boost for reach? 🥺 If Website A has a link out to another Website B, do you prefer that Website B opens in the same browser tab or in a new tab by default?

@leigh@lgbtqia.space it would be interesting to cross-reference this against ADHD | neurotypical… 🙃

@leigh@lgbtqia.space mu personal preference is a new tab, because I'm generally doing some sort of research and I want to keep track of where the information was (and I'm good at closing tabs). But more strongly as a former customer service person - new tab always as the default. So many less tech savvy people get extremely lost, and worry they are being scammed, and are unable to get help specifically because the links open in the same page and they don't realise they're not still a website A. I get why people want to make their own choice, but it's a real dark pattern for tricking people into engaging with companies and organisations they wouldn't have chosen.
