hii, trying my best to make it in Germany and i really need a job asap. im basically starting from square 1 again due to life issues. im a very skilled programmer but without a prior job or formal qualifications and my German isn't great (A2~) not looking for anything luxury just any old job will do. My primary skills are Rust and C++ (& C#) I've worked with lots of cursed technologies like C++/CLR too and have experience writing compilers and decompilers. I also write a Rust GUI toolkit and have relevant experienced there too. just really need a first step to properly start my life here. I'm based in Karlsruhe so here or remote would be perfect (I'm fine even with 5 days in person a week, just as long as the commute is <40m) #fedihired #jobsearch #getfedihired #mutualaid

@angelthorns@social.treehouse.systems You might try your luck at GameForge. The companies I know around here mostly do some form of web development. If you feel you can do PHP for starters you have a lot more options. If you have admin skills I know at least one open DevOps job. If you need help with German language, translations and stuff, feel free to post or DM. #karlsruhe

@angelthorns@social.treehouse.systems You could try 1&1. They have an office in Karlsruhe and are known to hire people with unusual backgrounds. I personally know someone who had trouble getting hired in Karlsruhe due to life issues who has been very happy at 1&1 for a few years now.

@angelthorns@social.treehouse.systems ah damn we need skilled people but we're in braunschweig and non-remote (technically 100 % possible, socially... hm... you know the ills). so I guess my employer does not want to succeed in hiring people. why should people live locally? random useless constraint choking whatever remote-possible company. and we're 100 % remote-possible noone can pretend otherwise we have like no heavy local machinery or patients or whatever we write code.

@angelthorns@social.treehouse.systems Just a tip: Walk into the Coworking Spaces (in Karlsruhe there is one called Steamwork for example) and ask there if they have a place to hang your profile or if they know someone. Or if they have developer events where you could join and make connections. This is not a guarantee, but most of the times a good way to get out there that you are looking around.
