@atomicpoet@mastodon.social my instance just got a major backend tune-up a few hours ago, if anyone on mastodon.lol wants to move on over here, I should be able to handle large account imports in quick succession! I'm more concerned about all the media and content that is going to go down the drain though...

@atomicpoet@mastodon.social also, instance admins, now is the time to talk to someone if you're having a bad day or bad week or a bad month and you need help, or a hug, or some cash for the server, or someone to pick up moderation, etc.

@atomicpoet@mastodon.social https://opalstack.social we have a good moderation policy and are happy to help. I feel for the admin, I have worked with them on issues in the past.

@atomicpoet@mastodon.social This is so sad. Those with better skills than me need to think how this disruption can be eliminated. I've been thinking that we need something like seamless Nostr integration with these Fedi application servers like Mastodon and all the other services.. Freeing a user from this dependency of an ephemeral instance. New versions of these application servers offering services then act as a link between the user and their stored stuff. The user being responsible for their own stored stuff (images, videos, documents etc) which would be stored eksewhere and give permission to the server to use it. I know this is big and difficult but it needs to be tackled as I see it as a major weakness and therefore a drag on acceptance/uptake.
