@Daveography@yeg.bike Hi! 👋 I'm curious to know what bike(s) you use to tackle Edmonton winter riding. Presently, my bike is useless in winter and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do to increase riding year round.

@ShanonRose@mstdn.ca @Daveography@yeg.bike Previously, I had a highly reliable 20-year-old "mountain bike" (no shocks) from #BikeEdmonton And I changed out to winter tires every year. As I've aged, carrying that to a top-floor apartment got more challenging so I got this lovely folding #TernBike that I can keep in my vehicle year-round. It also works nicely on snow/ice with studded tires. #BikeTooter

@ShanonRose@mstdn.ca Hi Shan! I have been using my 15-year-old mountain bike (I guess it was more like 10 when I started winter riding), I just switch to studded tires each winter season. The bike has held up like a champ, but winter is very hard on it. It needs regular tuning up, and I've replaced the cassette at least twice, the chainring at least once, and I replace the chain every 1-2 years. Still cheaper than a car, but at some point I think I'm going to need a non-winter MTB.
