Taking rest break in New Sarepta, on a much needed bikepacking trip to Miquelon Lake for a few nights of camping. Was supposed to be Elk Island but sadly the park is still closed due to storm damage. Still, been a good ride so far, making much better time than I expected! #BikePacking #BikeTooter #BikeLeans #yegBike

EDIT: It's been pointed out that the structure of the form and the pattern of the UCP means that any submission will probably just get used as a hard "look, we got X complaints! Time to take out the bike lanes!" What we really need is a counter-form......

#Introduction: I'm Dave, 40-something software developer and occasional photographer in #Edmonton / #yeg / #treaty6. I bike year-round, and have recently gotten into #PackRafting. I have a #chinchilla, reptiles, and an elder cat. I love birds, beer, coffee, and cooking. I post about these in random order. I'm big on building community, both off and online, which is why I started the yeg.bike Mastodon instance. I'm hoping it can help fill a void being left by the declin...

Hearing the UCP is going to introduce anti-bikelane legislation on Monday. You just know they've been holding on to that one for when they really needed to rally the troops and distract from a truly egregious scandal. I guess their connections to the Centurion Project and the voter registration leak must actually be pretty serious for them. #abLeg #abGov #yegBike #yycBike

Picked up a few plants today from @PHD_FARM for the garden and yard this year. Got some eggplants, ground cherry, Huckleberry, bee balm, and lavender. Gotta go back this weekend, though, as the cucumber plants weren't quite ready yet. Still such a cool concept and great use of normally underutilized yards. Great to finally meet the proprietor too! #yeg #gardening

A slightly somber #caturday as we learned Bailey's kidney failure has advanced to stage 3 pretty suddenly, on top of some other new age-related issues. She's almost 20 years old, we knew this sort of thing was always just over the horizon, but it's still so hard to see it coming up now, especially so much faster than we hoped. She's still surprisingly active and spry, so we have hope that we can treat her condition a bit longer, but we know we have some very har...

The latest Rossdale neighbourhood renewal draft is out. IIRC earlier drafts had new bike lanes along 96 Avenue from the river trail to the Legislature, but that appears to have been dropped. Instead, it looks like they're going to funnel bikes to the crappy SUP along 97 Ave, which is much less pleasant, much noisier, and has much more dangerous crossings. There's a link to the plans and the feedback survey in this @taprootyeg article: https://edmonton.taproot.news/news/2026/04...

#yegBike report: Snowy, but not bad aside from a few slippery patches. The big pool between the Muttart stop and the Low Level Bridge is now a lake of slush, but traversable with caution. Funicular and elevator both running. Not a bad ride, actually, despite the wind and snow.
