Why would a programmer's job not survive quantum computing? Quantum computers are computers. Somebody still has to write code for them to execute.
Also, I haven't heard about very many exciting applications of quantum computers. Mostly just breaking encryption. I'm sure that's very exciting for cybercriminals, but nobody's going to want a quantum computer in their house just for that.

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org @alvaromontoro@front-end.social if anything, the accessibility of quantum computers will make programming way more exciting. breaking RSA will just create a lot of urgent cybersecurity work; likely more than there exist competent programmers to fill. this job will thrive in that future. but it's not coming so soon, is it?
