@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org @alvaromontoro@front-end.social if anything, the accessibility of quantum computers will make programming way more exciting. breaking RSA will just create a lot of urgent cybersecurity work; likely more than there exist competent programmers to fill. this job will thrive in that future.
but it's not coming so soon, is it?

@sodiboo@gaysex.cloud That's kind of a Y2K thing, though. It creates a short burst of demand for programmers, and then it's over. It also doesn't involve actually using a quantum computer, merely installing software on normal computers that implements quantum-safe encryption. @alvaromontoro@front-end.social

The world is preparing, the world will be ready. Nobody will be using RSA anymore by the time it will be broken
