@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org it's gross when people needlessly discourage others from doing what they want to do. shouldn't we all try to be supportive of one-another? if there is no reason why what they're doing is problematic, at least don't break them down over it. and preferably encourage them breaking people down will only foster a toxic environment for everyone, where no-one feels like they can truly be themself; where no-one feels like they can express themself

@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org Seen somewhere: "If we stopped trying after first few failures, we would never learn to walk." I've started to learn to play guitar around my 30. It took me about 5 years to get to level I am comfortable to play around my friends. But even learning (and I'm far from perfect at playing it) made me so happy, that the process of learning is enough to keep me going and improving.

@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org Agree 💯! And we often do not even notice when we do it. Theory from “Mastery” by George Leonard: Your environment homeostasizes too. The people around you are also invested in you staying the same — they may subtly (or not so subtly) pressure you back to your old self. —- As evolved primates we’re comfortable with patterns and routines…when those in the tribe change it immediately unbalances our environment and reference points. Hate that I am quoting another self-help “guru”, but often remember Brian Tracy saying we also hold everyone to their word without the ability for them to change their mind. “But you said this!” “Yes, but I thought about it and I’ve changed my mind,” “But you said THIS!” “Yes, motherf*cker!…but 👏 I’ve 👏 changed 👏 my 👏 MIND!!!” (paraphrasing)

@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org And still I know people who just do their thing and couldn’t care less about criticism or mocking. I really wish to be like that, but it’s mostly rather the opposite and I myself am my harshest critic…

@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org What do you think of trying to encourage them to not get too overzealous with a huge project and suggest to start with something more manageable? /genuine question.
