Agree 💯!
And we often do not even notice when we do it.
Theory from “Mastery” by George Leonard: Your environment homeostasizes too. The people around you are also invested in you staying the same — they may subtly (or not so subtly) pressure you back to your old self.

As evolved primates we’re comfortable with patterns and routines…when those in the tribe change it immediately unbalances our environment and reference points.
Hate that I am quoting another self-help “guru”, but often remember Brian Tracy saying we also hold everyone to their word without the ability for them to change their mind.
“But you said this!”
“Yes, but I thought about it and I’ve changed my mind,”
“But you said THIS!”
“Yes, motherf*cker!…but 👏 I’ve 👏 changed 👏 my 👏 MIND!!!”

@paulywill@mstdn.ca thank you for the fantastic quotes and the laugh!!😁 That's most definitely true! People get stuck on the BS "roles" they assign themselves and others, of course capitalist propaganda encourages it... learning to be truly open-minded is a life long process, I really wish more people were engaging in it! Respectful debates (not with fascists, ofc!), opening yourself up to new things and perspectives, being happy for others without jealousy...
