Reminds me of our old dog, who–due to a takeout box mishap–found an entire fried egg in the middle of the lawn one afternoon, and then proceeded to return to that exact spot every single day for months to see if another fried egg would magically appear.

Oh, google photos just gave me a memory of Precious standing waiting near the fried egg spot exactly 9 years ago! The spot was right behind her on the grass about a foot from the walkway.

@mikemccaffrey@pdx.social lmao awesome. fried egg materialisation breaking the possibility barrier is no small thing I guess. you ever lob one out there for him from time to time?

  • @mikemccaffrey@pdx.social Yes, our dog found a big pile of spilled french fries and we had to revisit the spot for weeks. She apparently thought the neighbor's yard grew french fries.

@mikemccaffrey@pdx.social My girlfriend in college had an apartment with a fireplace that had been converted to a vent for some kind of heater, then eventually disconnected, so it had this metal panel over it with a ~9” hole two feet off the ground. Their cat Hamlet would often stand on his back feet and peer into the hole, so they started calling it the “tuna hole” since they imagined his longing for it. Years later, the day they moved out, they put a can of tuna on a platform in there for him to find.
