Excited to be attending #teardown2026 here in Portland as usual. So lucky to have such a great conference and community right here at home. And major kudos to @helenleigh already for the work.

Come to this August 8! I'm *probably* going to bring my 1989 computer running a web editor, server, and browser again. https://pdx.social/@courtney/116977135325109506

Sorry to those affected by the wildfire smoke. It sucks. Real bad. Last year one of the times it hit us was my mom’s visit, when we had all sorts of summer outdoor plans. At least it’s making national news now.

@schwa I think Messages is more likely to happen first, despite being E2EE. Look at the “someone shared this link with you” that integrates with a top banner in Safari. Some helpful feature like “Topics” or some such that pulls out conversation points in the UI, then eventually gets suggested links and ads. Some numbers-go-up person there is already peeing themselves over the possibilities, I’m sure. The lock-in is too good!

Getting on the road today for a van camping trip up through Yakima area and a show at the Gorge Amphitheater (in George, WA) this weekend before rounding the way back to Seattle mid-week. Doing the talk next Thursday’s at Seattle @Xcoders on @swiftlang result builders and the swift-parsing project! 🏔️🚐💨

Made it to George, WA after camping last night in Yakima Canyon and a quick, steep hike this morning. Today, the festival setup is hard to beat.

A friend of mine is starting up an aspirationally-monthly computer art salon, an evening of discussion for computer enthusiasts and artists. As it says, the intersection of code, art, hardware, and society. Planning on going next Tuesday, maybe showing, you should too! https://clipdx.com/arthack/

@gedeonm@mastodon.social I’m always a little sad to lose cool visas though, this time it was China and last time it was Russia, Turkey, and Malaysia.
