The reason why public opinion is turning against AI is because the public sees the exact wrong people making money from it, while feeding us a bucket of horseshit about how it's going to save us from a life of drudgery.

@flargh@mastodon.social Yep, also the more folk use it, the more the vast majority realise the claims made for it are largely bullshit. Suspect economics will also, if not kill it off, at least stop the flood of "put it in everything, you MUST use it" bollocks. When vendors try to charge what it actually costs, instead of the heavily subsidised, "all you can prompt" smorgasbord it has been, most people stop using it at all. A lot of orgs pushing us to use it will stop as true costs kick in.
